MWDC is pleased to announce our WRECKS 2008 Scallop Shell Raffle! Over the next couple of weeks, specially marked sea scallop shells will be “planted” at various shore diving locations and wrecks sites in MA and RI. Club members have already planted shells at wrecks such as the Grecian and Idene, and at shore diving locations like Folly Cove, Old Garden Beach and Cathedral Rocks.
Divers who find the shells can turn them in at the MWDC monthly meeting, held the second Tuesday of each month at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Natick, or at the WRECKS Show Nov. 8th at Keefe Tech in Framingham, MA.
Once turned in, divers will have the choice of a t-shirt or raffle tickets. Divers are limited to turning in one shell at each of the meetings or show, and have to confirm the location of the shell they found.

Recall
ScubaPro has just announced a recall of their MK 20 regulators. Over-tightening of the Yoke or Din retainer during annual servicing of these regulators could result in a stress crack and failure of the regulator. If this occurs during a dive, air supply could be interrupted, posing a drowning hazard. More information can be found here

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008:
Please join us on Tuesday night, September 9th at 7:30pm at the Crowne Plaza in Natick.
In October 2007, Jim and fellow MWDC member Mike Walsh joined a group of
underwater photographers led by professional photographer Jonathan Bird for a
trip to Lembeh Strait, Indonesia. This area is famous for such creatures as the
deadly blue ring octopus and the dazzling flamboyant cuttlefish.
Lembeh is a "muck" diver's paradise featuring such creatures as frogfish,
scorpion fish, pipe fish, mandarin fish and other bottom dwellers. There are
also several coral reefs available which are home to a great variety of tropical
fish and corals. After Lembeh, Jim and Mike dove nearby Bunaken National Park.
Jim began diving in Thailand in 1995 and has logged over 400 dives. Diving
trips to the Pacific include Truk Lagoon (2005), Bikini Atoll (2006) and most
recently Lembeh Strait in October of 2007. Locally, Jim dives for lobsters most
summer and fall weekends and photographs such dive sites as the Isle of Sholes
and the U 853.
You can check out other upcoming and past speakers and presentations on our meetings page.
The MetroWest Dive Club (MWDC) is dedicated to promoting fun, safe diving, and introducing and familiarizing members with new dive sites. We are committed to encouraging good relations with our coastal neighbors through courtesy and good diving etiquette, and getting involved with community activities.
The MWDC is not affiliated with any retailer, vendor, or manufacturers. We are a large group of sport divers with a wide range of scuba diving interests. Club members can help direct you to the many training classes locally available.
MetroWest Dive Club meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Framingham. Meetings are free and guests are welcome, divers and non-divers alike. MWDC meetings start at 7:30 pm but members often meet socially at the bar from 6:30 to 7:30pm.
